Still no running

I haven't got a lot to report other that I still haven't done any running. In fact I went to Chester for the day at the weekend and a 40 minute walk around the city walls was enough to give me sufficient stomach pain to want to stop. I've done some self diagnosis (everyone's an internet doctor these days aren't they) and have come to the conclusion that I must have a Rectus Abdominus strain. This page illustrates perfectly the location of the pain. After reading the description it's apparent that I have most likely got a second degree strain. Taken from the article: "As a general rule, grade one injuries should be rested from sporting activity for about 3 weeks and grade two injuries for about 4 to 6 weeks. In the case of a complete rupture, the muscle may have to be repaired surgically and the rehabilitation afterwards will take about 3 months.

Well, It's been 5 weeks since the Atacama, but I aggravated the injury 2 weeks later on that LDWA event. Anyway, it's pretty clear that even 3 weeks total rest from exercise hasn't helped, so I am hoping another week or two might see it get better. If it doesn't then I guess I could face the possibility that I full-on tore it (hernia), but I don't want to think about that possibility at the moment. It does bother me. Even as I sit still on the train right now, it feels uncomfortable. Let's just hope another couple of weeks rest do the trick.

Have a good week.

  1. Hi Rich, I hope that the rest does the trick, if you are still having problems though maybe you should get it checked out just to make sure it's not something more serious?
